XI
Taschenratte
A Panzerkampfwagen VIII Maus modernization project that placed great emphasis on optimizing the hull. The slope angles and armor plate thickness were redistributed to boost protection without significantly increasing the weight, while a reworked turret eliminated the risk of shells ricocheting into the hull top. The engine and transmission were moved to the rear, and the turret was shifted nearer to the center of mass, which was supposed to improve weight distribution and internal space. The designers planned to mount a mine detection system and WMD protection (including against radiation). The project was closed since the issue of low mobility was not solved.
